I really wanted to revisit Ghostrider's costume and motorcycle, but next up on the docket was Skeletor. So...I decided to give him a motorcycle and make him a road warrior kinda sorcerer. That train of thought quickly derailed and I thought about people who travel a lot and how they're "Road Scholars". See, it's funny because when you say Road Scholar it sounds just like Rhodes Scholar. I wonder if I'm the first to think of that or if someone else already has?
Back on track. I gave Skeletor a sweet bike to ride aroud and do his Skeletoring on. I happen to be a big fan of motorcycles so I know how they're put together and what their working components are well enough to just sorta roughly sketch one out...which is what I did. I had a really clear mental image of how I wanted Skeletor to look so I didn't have to spend too much time sketching him. I was also REALLY pressed for time. So I scanned my small sketch, created a basic vector frame and elipses for the wheels on top of it in Illustrator, printed it at a much larger size, traced it, inked it and then colored it. That'sa my process...sometimes!
He should be up at Superhero Cocoa pretty soon so you should head over and check out all the other awesome designs! I haven't seen any of them yet, but I'm excited about them! Woo!

This is amazing. Seriously. We didn't get as many this time around, I think yours is my favorite. Yours and Celeste's little cute Skeletor!
Holu crap.
This is so beyond awesome I don't even have words - I MUST have an action figure of this version of Skeletor!
The barbed wire boots are an excellent touch. Also I guess the Panthor bike implies that Skeletor finally got tired of him just lying around; a fitting end to a mostly decorative evil pet panther methinks. Great stuff Shane!
Thanks, James! If I had a Panthor pelt I'd totally rig my motorcycle up like this. Ok, maybe I wouldn't. (I'm vegetarian) But I would totally play with a Skeletor action figure if he came with a sweet sweet motorcycle.
Shof, thanks, buddy! I'm going to leave it up in the air. Maybe this is Panthor and maybe it's just some panther that makes the bike Panthor. I originally thought it'd be cool to frankenstein a panthor and a motorcycle together all sorcery style, but Ashley gave me a frowny face so I didn't do it.
Dude, I was seeing this all over the place yesterday, but sadly, no one said where it was from or who had done it, so I had no idea it was you!
So, so, so awesome! My mind is just blown.
You need to do a He-Man companion piece and submit them to the next 1988 gallery show.
Chris, thanks, man! Yeah, that totally came out of nowhere. This is the 4th redesign I've done for Superhero Cocoa (which you should check out if you haven't) and Dean has posted a couple of them over at Project Rooftop.
I will TOTALLY do a He-Man and submit them for the next 1988 gallery show.
Excellent, I can't wait to see how badass that He-Man is going to turn out.
And dude, of course I've been following Superhero Cocoa. This just totally shocked me since I saw it a bunch of other places before I saw it here (or there) and didn't know it was you.
This is so cool! I would love to see the rest of the cast, especially Teela, Man-at-Arms and Evil-Lyn. It's like "Sons of Anarchy" meets "Masters of the Universe!"
That's really neat. Skeletor is the bee knees, much cooler than Ghost Rider.
Man, this makes me want to go hog wild and start redrawing characters from my favorite 80's cartoons!
Poor Panthor...
Hey Shane! I never got around to commenting and I can't really add much to what has already been said, so I hope the simple "HELL YEAH!" covers it for now!
That's slick.
!!!!! and I mean it.
I bow to your awesomeness on this one Shane.
As someone who craves original vision and execution (and was a comics fanatic back in the '70s), I gotta say you've got some fantastic work....
nice work!
