C'mon and vote HACKENSLASH!

Look, people, the time draws near for this round to be over and the whopping lead that Hackenslash had over the Die-ities is getting smaller.
If you're out there...and you're reading this...which you probably aren't because I have like...zero blog traffic...I'm asking you to go vote Hackenslash. Clearly the superior team.
So get out there and get voting at Fistacuffs!

C'mon, man, you've got to get on this updating thing.
Unless, of course, you're not updating because you're working on that picture we discussed Sunday.
If that's the case, then keep it up.

I know...I'm a slacker. Actually, I did work on that "you-know-what" a little bit. I'm hoping to finish it in a few days. I'm also working on a few other things. Maybe I'll post something tonight so I'm not a looooooooooooooser.

Howdy Shane! I come across a little bit of you every now and again whenever I chance upon a paper and it's always a pleasant surprise. I'll be keeping an eye on your blog so you'd better update frequently.

Slacker

April,
Hey Thanks! I'm going to pretend it was one of the nicer ones that I feel pretty good about and not one of the many, crappy rush jobs I've had to crank out as of late.

Chris,
Good to hear from you, sir! I've caught wind of a rather heart-breaking rumor about you and Nigeria. Say it ain't so! And yeah...I am a slacker. I just scanned a "boat-load" of things I'm going to upload here shortly...and by here shortly I mean tomorrow...because right now I'm going to bed. I hope all is well. We need to get together soon.

Shane,

Yup, I'm leaving Tuesday next week, maybe we could get together for lunch or dinner at Huey's or something? It'll probably have to be sometime during the week or weekend, check your schedule and let me know when you're free so we can get together even if it's only for an hour or so.

Lookin' forward to the drawings!

how does that work, exactly? do you read the article and come up with the illustration on your own, or do they just tell you what to make and you make it?

it was the one of the crystal ball. i liked the woman's eyes.

I rarely get the actual article. I get a synopsis and then I do a bunch of conceptual and compositional thumbnails and choose the one that best communicates the ideas or major points of the story. Sometimes I just pick what sucks the least. There have been several occassions when I've done an illustration according to what the synopsis says the article will be about...something very specific...then in a last minute pinch the writer changes the bent and sometimes the illustration just doesn't jive with it. That makes me look bad and usually pisses me off pretty good. This time I actually didn't have very long to come up with anything and the crystal ball future seemed vague enough that it would work. I did it in about 3 hours. It would have been nice to have had more time to spend on it. I like her eyes too. Thanks!

yeah, it's funny because it struck me immediately as one of my favorites, but when i looked at it closer i realized it was far less detailed than some of your other stuff i've seen.

sometimes simple is more striking though, i guess.
